Diocese of Ibba
This week our bishop received a letter from the Rt. Rev. Wilson Kamani. He would like to share it with you.
Dear + David, Thank you so much for the message and the question about the situation in Ibba. Generally, we have a new County Commission who is active with a vision. The Christians in Ibba are doing well, but the challenge is poor harvest this year which is not encouraging. People's hope relies entirely on the second season. Spiritually, some people are very passionate about their faith and some people are reluctant to join the Church, but they are in the forefront of our thoughts. As a Church we had a week of witness in the first week of September and it is the time in which evangelists are sent to the field to preach. It is the time backsliders are being invited to confess. We are similarly involved in peace and reconciliation program in the diocese so as to maintain the unity of our Christians and led us to agree on an annually function called " Ibba Day" which draws all the citizens of Ibba and friends of Ibba to meet on the 5th of January to 10th in Ibba to encourage each other, organize different activities on that day such intercommunity football tournament, traditional dancers, presentation of papers and others. Politically, we were supposed to have an election in December 2024, but it has been adjourned to 2027. Economically South Sudanese money loss its value every day and things are not easy. We have Confirmation program in November. My regards to Benita and your Christians. + Wilson |
