It was a pleasure for the bishop to lead the Eucharist at St. John's United Anglican Church on February 15, 2026.
The service began with the “Blessings” of the community. A bottle is placed on the altar, and at the beginning of the service the children eagerly come forward to place their offerings inside and share their blessings — a win at hockey, a special family celebration, sledding in the snow, and many other joyful moments for which they are thankful.
The blessings are not limited to the children. Adults also participate, offering thanks for God’s goodness — from meaningful family time to the announcement of expected grandchildren. It is a beautiful time of sharing what God has done in their lives and celebrating together as a parish family.
Following the service, the young people prepared a Pancake Dinner, celebrating Shrove Tuesday a little early so that more people could participate. The funds raised by the children will support outreach in the community, including Alongside Hope.
It is always a blessing for the bishop to worship with this vibrant and faithful congregation.
