Hello Everyone,

Just letting everyone out there know I am still here, busy as a bee preparing and shipping out boxes of material to the Provincial Archives, ensuring that our history is being preserved for years to come.

In the last year, we have cleared approximately 20 boxes off to the Archives, with another 50 or so boxes to look through.  I have also assisted approximately 10 people in their search for baptism records or other paperwork, which is very challenging but oh so rewarding work.  As Bishop David hears from me often, “I love paper!” I am very appreciative of those who organize their paperwork into binders for me, it makes the job so much easier.  I, of course, will continue to accept the material in this way, but i have a suggestion.

You may not be aware, but the Archives will not accept papers in binders because of the space needed to store them in this way.  I have been pondering the best way to store papers, keeping them together and secure.   I first thought of wrapping in elastic bands, but quickly rejected this as the rubber deteriorates quickly and the paper would no longer be secure.  Then, I thought string, would last longer, but would be flimsy and prone to sliding apart.  In the end, I thought, binder rings.  i have priced them out and 20 rings will run about $10, each “binder” taking 3 rings to thoroughly secure.  Prices, of course, vary.

I would like to encourage anyone currently using binders and who are going to be sending me binders in the near future to purchase some of these rings and sending to me that way.  If need be, I will have some sent to the Diocese office and Benita can mail them out to you (3 rings for every binder).  This way you can reuse binders.  Any binders I free up will be sent to the diocese office, so please contact them if you are in need.

As always, if you need to speak with me, please either email me at dianne.golob@gmail.com or call me at 780-835-4749

Have a great month!
