The Rt. Rev. David Greenwood has asked for prayers for the Diocese of North Kivu, Congo. A request was sent to him from the bishop there. Below is a copy of what is being asked for prayer.
Dear friends than you very much for the work you are doing there for the Glory of God.
These are the different prayer items we would like to present to you.
- The Leaders of the government of DRC want to change the constitution of the country. This is being contested by many people, including the Chruches, the opposition; and this may bring chaos in the country. We should pray for that.
-The Eastern region of the country is undergoing a lot of killings of the civilians because the region has many different rebel movements: ADF, M23, MAIMAI, etc. This has lead many people to run in the areas where they think there is security. So we have many displaced people in urban areaslike Butembo and Beni. They don't have any assistance. We have to pray for this situation.
-We are living under fear these days in Butembo because Ebola disease has erupted again in our region. Every day the Health leaders are announcing new cases. We should pray for this.
-We have Chruches which have spend many years without the roofs because the Christians have not afforded the costs of the Iron sheets. Some of them are being destroyed by rain.
-Pray for Christians in the Democratic Republic of Congo, especially in the Easter region for the hardship they are going through. Sometimes many feel like prayers are not heard by God because they have sp[end many days enduring difficult situations.
Yours in the service of the Lord,
The Rt. Rev. Muhindo Isosomo Adolphe, Bishop of North Kivu Diocese
