The Diocese of Athabasca is reaching out to the world on social media.  We have morning and evening prayer each weekday on Facebook, most of the services that the bishop leads around the diocese are posted on Facebook, and we post on other platforms such as Youtube, Bluesky, Instagram, X, and Twitter.
The graph gives a glimpse of how many people are looking in on what we posted on Facebook in February.  This is only of the diocesan Facebook page.
The bishop summed up some of the information:
"This means that Morning Prayer has had anywhere from 12 to 139 views, Evening Prayer / Compline from 19 to 86 views, and Holy Eucharist (4 events) from 93 to 251 views, with just over 3,000 total views in the month.
I have no idea how many are the same viewer repeated, or how engaged these viewers are.
However:  just like our in-person worship impacts people as we bring them into the presence of Christ in an intentional and explicit manner, through the internet we are doing the same — and enough people are being impacted in some way that the viewership is steady and continuing.
Here is the trend over time during the month of February … Morning Prayer is blue, Evening Prayer / Compline is orange, and Holy Communion is green."
God is good, we are making a difference in the world.  We can use this tool, created by people, to give back to the world, to provide something good for those searching the internet to take a look at.
